Rheological Additive is an organoclay made from modified smectite designed for solvent borne systems of medium to high polarity. In a typical system BESTGEL 270 gives thixo tropic effect, sag control, excellent leveling and prevents pigments for long term storage settling.

    -Plastics & Rubber, such as rubber(tire) mold release compounds
    -Adhesives
    -Caulks and sealants
    -Printing Inks (Lithoraphic, letterpress, rotogravure)

■ INCORPORATION

BESTGEL 270 rheological additive can be incorporated into organic liquids using either high shear or high speed types of equipment. Optimum gelling efficiency is obtained when the proper degree of mechanical, chemical and thermal energy is applied to the system. The mixing equipment should provide the necessary degree of mechanical energy. The required chemical energy is supplied by a chemical (polar) activator such as propylene carbonate, methanol/water (95/5), ethanol/water (95/5), or acetone. The relative amount of polar activator may from 30% to 60% by weight of BESTGEL 270. Use levels of BESTGEL 270 are generally 0.2-2.0% by weight of the system.
